Home Depot is hiring for CDL A Delivery Driver
The Delivery Driver I (CDL A) - Rental Equipment operates medium to heavy-duty trucks with trailers to deliver rental equipment. This role involves delivering equipment, providing basic operational training to customers, and ensuring the equipment is clean and operational before and after each delivery. The driver demonstrates high-quality customer service and performs local deliveries with minimal overnight travel. Also referred to as Rental Delivery Driver I (RDDI).
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative/Business Duties (10%)
- Utilize company technology to document work.
- Obtain signatures on rental contracts.
- Stay current on local licensing and safety requirements.
- Maintain professionalism in appearance and conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Regional Rental Manager (RRM), Rental Field Operations Manager (RFOM), Rental Operations Supervisor, or authorized personnel.
Deploy Equipment to Store Locations (20%)
- Assist with the deployment of new equipment to store locations.
- Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs), deliver equipment, and train store associates on operation.
- Complete check-in and check-out procedures for equipment.
Maintain Parts Inventory (10%)
- Maintain accurate parts and fleet inventories through documentation and system updates.
Operate Assigned Truck and Make Deliveries (60%)
- Operate semi tractor-trailer with a 53' flatbed trailer and class 7 straight truck commercial motor vehicle.
- Load, unload, and secure equipment on trailer or flatbed truck.
- Perform local deliveries and pick-ups of rental equipment to/from customer job sites.
- Demonstrate proper and safe equipment operation to customers.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Rental Operations Supervisor or Regional Rental Manager.
- No direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Overnight travel typically less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Intermittent periods of physical exertion including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting heavy or awkward materials.
Working Conditions:
- Comfortable indoor environment with occasional exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Valid DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card).
- 1-year commercial motor vehicle driving experience within the previous 5 years.
- Safe driving record - Clean MVR.
- Knowledge of delivery trucks, tandem axle trailers, and equipment operation.
- Knowledge of local roadways and ability to use maps for efficient routing.
- Understanding of load securement, tie-downs, and Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve complaints effectively.
- One (1) year of experience operating a commercial motor vehicle with a flatbed trailer.
- Experience in the equipment rental industry.
- Basic knowledge of compact construction equipment.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve.
Minimum Education: Completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
Preferred Education: Completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

Preferred Years of Work Experience: 3 years.
